Treasury rules out cut in VAT

The simple honest response to David Gauke's opinion is that, like many people involved in government, whether elected or as officers, he's talking absolute bollocks. A cut to 5% can be imposed - there's nothing to prevent this happening other than his own reluctance to do anything that's out of the box. It's NOT COMPLICATED it's simply a matter of making a decision and putting it into action.

As with so many things in risk averse UK there just isn't the will to do anything dynamic in case something unimaginable goes horribly wrong somewhere down the line.
