Pub history: The people’s pubs

I'm slightly amazed that this story has not been visited more. Is it too difficult a concept to discuss?

There's a distinct element of tied pubs moving in this direction already what with banks who own large pub estates having being effectively nationalised because of their messing around in areas of property acquisition they didn't adequately understand.
