Pubcos need good operators? Hardly. They depend on people who do not have enough experience or resources to be able to be good operators. I'm a good operator. Of course, being in England you're not allowed to say anything like that. I've been told by my pubco senior staff that I'm a good operator - before they stuck the knife in and twisted it. It's clear that pubcos hate good operators; they don't understand them; they don't like not knowing why a pub that isn't a traditional boozer can be busy but so what if the cash is coming in they do like to screw every last drop of profit out of a good operator to subsidise other parts of their model that don't work so well. Just because they can. And woe betide the good operator who actually stands up to them or has an opinion that is different from the 'area manager's'. 'Area manager' now that HAS to be the biggest joke of them all. Area? Manager?

Pubs are shutting left right and centre because pubcos know nothing about operation. Pubcos have lost the plot. They forgot that pubs need to make a profit as well as the pubco a long time ago.

Stuff all the stuff about blaming the government. Don't illusion that a Tory government would be any different. If pubcos had cared a toss about pubs the government would be better informed about what pubs really are, instead of being the target of numerous nonsense legislation - supported by BBPA and, implicitly the hypocritical pubco CEO suited elite who know buggerall about pubs and a lot about stripping out cash at every level of the industry except the private yacht.

These people are asset strippers of the most heinous sort. They care NOTHING about their industry. This is black and white. OPEN YOUR EYES the evidence is everywhere. If pubcos did care then pubs all over the UK would be pristine, well looked after and run by well trained and confident people who are innovators. Is that what we have? Not quite.

No we have thousands of pubs that are falling down and apart, un-maintained and neglected because there has been NO investment, no nurturing, no training, no care, no support, no understanding of what it takes to make an industry thrive. It's all been smoke and mirrors, lies, deceit, backhanders and cosy back slapping for twenty years and more.

This industry is a woeful disgrace, an international embarrassment, it's the pubcos that have made it so. They know it and they still don't give a flying toss because they are still sitting in clover and talking a good game about 'there is no issue of insolvency'. GAH! TOSH! Can you hear the tumble weed tumbling?

'there is no issue of insolvency' in itself is an utterly disingenuous statement which denies the stark clear to analyse reality using their own annual accounts. All these pubcos are in deep doo doo and are catatonic in not knowing how to get out of it. Truth is there is no way out but administration. Look out for chapter elevens and all that before long.

Finance aside there is a massive issue of MORAL BANKRUPTCY.

If this seems a tad intemperate it's NOT, I'm just stating the bleeding obvious OK? It's because I am OUTRAGED but the inequity and the abuse of power these smug idiots wreak before them and for the damage they have done to thousands of people they have their talons in and the millions of customers who have been ripped of for far too long.
