Historic pub in David Cameron's backyard faces closure as the landlord can't even pay himself

Historic pub in David Cameron's backyard faces closure as the landlord can't even pay himself

My comment:

'Jim's pub sounds like a nice place. It would be useful to know if the Chequers is a Free House or a Tied pub - because more than half our nation's pubs' profits are clobbered by a different hidden beer tax, which is even nastier than the duty, it's a Private Beer Tax called the British Beer Tie

More than 50% of British pubs are rented to pub landlords by pub companies who use the Beer Tie to charge their lessees DOUBLE the price for beer than Free Houses are charged when they buy direct from their brewery.

Here's a recent CAMRA video explaining simply why pubs are closing all over the UK: http://bit.ly/TYSoaL
