Here's some light reading I found in Enterprise's code of practice:

Foreword by Ted Tuppen, Chief Executive

"At Enterprise Inns we believe that lease and tenancy agreements offer the best way of operating the majority of pubs in the UK.

"That is why we are committed to developing a mutually profitable relationship with our licensees, a relationship that is at the heart of our business strategy. As a national pub operator, we provide our skills, experience and resources to support the entrepreneurial flair, expertise and enthusiasm of our licensees.

This approach, which we call ‘Retailers in Partnership’, includes training and development opportunities and ensures we invest in the future together for successful trading and growing profits.

"Such a relationship requires trust, understanding, clarity and focus. This Code of Practice details the essential elements of the relationship between Enterprise Inns and our licensees and clearly sets out the basis of our future partnership and our ongoing joint commitments."

Sounds like the kind of company I'd like to do business with. But then so do all the other pubcos in their glowing cops and robber stamp documents.
