Hosts ‘kept in dark’ as Punch sells pubs

http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/news.ma/ViewArticle?R=83293

I was, verbally face to face, offered first refusal on the sale of my pub's freehold by the then CEO of Inntrepreneur in 1996. The first I knew that S&NPE were my new freeholder was when I got a letter from S&NPE saying (and I paraphrase but do have the letter on file): "You will know by now that the freehold of your pub has been bought by S&NPE, we are writing to assure you that operationally this will not affect your business" blah blah blah. I did NOT know about it; it just happened like that. So I wrote to the then CEO of Inntrepreneur about this broken promise and he replied, eventually, with a letter saying "at least you will be starting at the top of the hill with S&NPE" whatever that meant I have never really understood.

It did royally piss me off though.

S&NPE have consistently proven to be as rubbish at communications and understanding the point of view of the tenant as that CEO of Inntrepreneur. Plus ca change c'est la meme chose in the tied pub trade.
