Inez, sadly the collapse of this industry will make Enron look like peanuts. The amounts of debt might be less but this industry is based in bricks and mortar with hundreds of thousands of people living and working in the buildings. The ramifications will be wider and more obvious than with Enron. The results of the avarice and short-sightedness of just a few individuals will be evident in every village, hamlet and town and in every city from high streets to every neighbourhood from Lands End to John O Groats. Our landscape, our culture, is about to change.

Still, progress is a good thing.
