RE: Punch’s 1st ‘free of tie on cask’ lease

What a PR steal for Punch! Just imagine the scene at Punch Ivory Towers Publicity Deptartment when news of Kellaway's proposal dropped on the door mat!

When Martin Kellaway opened WharfeBank he can't possibly have foreseen the remarkable opportunity he'd be offering Punch to kill several birds with one stone. Could he? Or perhaps Martin had the foresight and industry network already to create this opportunity before embarking on his new brewery venture.

On Punch's part; how ironic it is that this publicity stunt, transparently designed to win over the Select Committee (it's even on the patch of pubco nemesis Greg Mullholland for goodness sake!), should be wrapped around a pub called THE FLEECE!

Roger Whiteside said: "This is a great example of how we are working with our partners to offer them scope and flexibility to develop businesses with strong potential"... And to get our whole business model off the hook of external scrutiny.
