punch shares slump to new depths closing the day down @15% at just 61.5p

this now makes sense to me. The directors have been buying shares, even just this week. So if they know something like a takeover is possible or can wangle it so that it is wound up and still the shareholders get a percentage (including themselves), and also line up a new job in the process - job done!

They HAVE to buy shares to show the rest of the investor world that they have confidence in the policies and strategies they use in the company they run.

Very very very dodgy ground for people to have to take when they actually know nothing about how to run a pub isn't it.

Well worth buying say 10,000 shares one day and selling the next day " on the bounce" at a revalue of + .50P ( or buy 1million shares and make half £million profit) , thats a very quick & cool £5,000 profit from very little risk. Mark , i don't see what knowing how to run a pub has anything to do with share dealing.

Oh! Good old cuddly Graham opening the door wide open for someone else to point out the glaringly obvious - yet again.

The point, Graham, is that knowing HOW TO RUN A PUB has something to do with KNOWING HOW TO RUN A PUB COMPANY.

If all you know is how to do share dealing but you're running a pub company, it's clear the wheels will come off somewhere down the line because no one ever bothered to oil the bearings.

DOH!
