The PubCo's haven't a clue what they are doing when it somes to basic operation. Ambience, feel, atmosphere, character, flair, originality, value for money, are not words they freely associate with. They could not organise a pissup in a brewery but that hardly matters when all that is important to them is that they know how to keep share prices, bricks and mortar values and wholesale prices high using an archaic land and property system to their best advantage. Solicitors and accountants do that very well. Mere mortals do the rest - and don't get rewarded for it.
