He actually said almost nothing except about his own rent review and / or lease assignment.

Simon Clarke's view of tied vs FOT pricing, from the transcript, is that it can be 2x "in some cases". That's not "typically" by anyone's definition.

But as always you avoid the exposure of your exaggeration and discussion of it by shifting the focus of the argument, in this case toward me. As it happens I have pulled thousands of pints and employed dozens of bar staff - but in a managed environment rather than that of a tenancy. But whatever my background might be it doesn't change the fact that you overstated what Gary Mason in particular contributed to the hearing, and you continue to overstate the extent of the tied / FOT pricing differential.

As an aside it was interesting, in the light of the oft repeated claim that a tied lease is a one way ticket to bankruptcy, to ponder exactly what benefit it was that Mr Mason was exploring to sell to someone else. Surely that ticket has zero (or even negative) value! (Although Dave Mountford, whilst not actually defining whether he was talking about a tied or FOT lease) did quantify its value as greater than the 2x RV L&T compensation payable on the termination of a lease on the grounds that the landlord wishes to occupy the premises for his own purposes.Non Labour but fascinated.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05814664786703341901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467535.post-55452181403483495512016-07-31T06:34:17.747-07:002016-07-31T06:34:17.747-07:00What you think is utterly irrelevant and is filter...What you think is utterly irrelevant and is filtered through your bizarre pro pubco propaganda asset stripping business model lense.

And Gary Mason is an example of publican pub operator who knows how to run a pub whose wider experience of the pub sector is limited because he is a publican not someone who's learned to campaign on behalf of people like him, who is being shafted by the irrational big corporate greed mindset of people like you.

Have you ever owned a tied lease?

How may pints have you pulled?

How many staff have you employed in a busy tied pub?

Or were you always, before you retired to spend much time idly on the Internet, sitting in an office twiddling spread sheets that were designed to return shareholder value?

J Mark Doddshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11800542445712331202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6467535.post-2572954849850664342016-07-30T10:52:51.449-07:002016-07-30T10:52:51.449-07:00It's interesting that Simon Clarke acknowledge...It's interesting that Simon Clarke acknowledges that "in some cases" tied prices are twice FOT. I don't think that "in some cases" equates to "typically".

And Gary Mason "...clearly had a firm grasp of the whole market and were able to talk with confidence and authority, showing a lively grasp of all aspects of the pub sector from micro pubs to giga brewers, local ales to global brands and commenting on the likely perspective of the owners/operators of pubs from small wet led boozers to chains of food and drink destination venues and how Newby's appointment would sit with them." Really??? Did Simon Clarke even go through all that?Non Labour but fascinated.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05814664786703341901noreply@blogger.com
